Currently, all Verizon voice service is based on CDMA technologies. Verizon handsets have both CDMA and GSM (thus also UMTS and LTE) radios. The 1520 won't work because it lacks the CDMA radios.

It's possible that when Verizon switches to VoLTE, that contemporary LTE phones will be movable across T-Mo, ATT, and Verizon, but not yet.

Me too...I have a 1520.3 and have both T-Mobile and Verizon SIM's. Tried Verizon for fun and it would not connect to Verizon's network. T-Mobile SIM, of course, works like a charm with full LTE.

I have the lumia 1520 a att branded version the 16 gig version i got my sim unlocked so i can switch to tmobile do to being more affordable and unlimited data again . I have been nothing but dissapointed with my tmobile experience . The signal when good the network is great but thats the problem . when i was on att no problems did not matter where i was the signal varied on att but never effected my phone exsperience. Before i blame tmobile as just being infurior . My question to all of you if i go out and buy a lte rm-938 32gig version of the lumia 1520 would this make my experience improved.

It's not going to work, as the Verizon won't allow phones to properly activate on their network that aren't "Verizon" phones. Technically it should be able to connect to the Band 4 LTE, but it just doesn't.

The 1520 was purposely configured by AT&T to not see some of T-Mobile's network, so try turning on the 1700Mhz band following the instructions here: Nokia Lumia 1520 - Windows Central Forums. If you do this, you have effectively turned your RM-940 to RM-938, at least as far as the radio is concerned.

It can be a substantial help and you'll get 3.5G in many places you would only otherwise get EDGE a. That said, if there is bad coverage where you are, this obviously wont help it.
