Hi Everyone:

Thanks to some advice from blue1k, I used the Nokia Care Suite to change the ROM on my unlocked Lumia 1020 which I purchased trom the Microsoftstore.com after reading the article on this site about the pricing. PLEASE NOTE, ANY ADVICE FOLLOWED HERE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. THIS WORKED FOR ME, BUT IT MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE, OR CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS, AND MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

The steps were:
1. Download the Nokia Care Suite (can't remember where I found it, but I believe it was a search on this forum).
2. Search on YouTube for a video of using the Nokia Care Suite to flash a Lumia device. Basically, once you've installed it, you run the Data Package Manager and login with blank username and pwd. In there, you enter the product type RM-877, but for the product code, use the Rogers one - 059T1V9, and select search.
3. Once it finds it, download that ROM.
4. Once the download is completely close the Data Package Manager, and Open the Product Support Tool for Store 5. Again sign in using empty username and password.
5. With your phone still disconnected, in the Product Support Tool, select File/Open Product, and then filter to RM-877, then select that, which should say (Lumia 1020), and select 'Open'.
6. On the bottom left, select Programming/Recovery. This will load the ROM you downloaded.Ignore the error.
7. Without plugging in your phone, select Start. This will get you to the Recovery screen, where it will assume your phone is not bootable.
8. Turn your phone off, and then plug it in, and follow the instructions to soft reset the phone in the Recovery screen, and immediately after you feel the phone vibrating for the soft reset, select 'Retry'.

This should start flashing your phone to the Rogers Rom. It will remain network unlocked, but you'll get back your AT&T LTE if you're on AT&T, including Network sharing. Rogers has also formally released Cyan and 8.1, so I've been able to upgrade to those. Phone is working wonderfully now.

Thanks
Tamir
If I follow these steps to a tee, how likely or unlikely would I be to brick my Lumia 1020? Obviously these would be the steps to flashing the ROM and it seems a number of people in this thread have followed them with success, but what as someone doing this for the first time, what should I know about why the process could potentially go wrong? Something to do with a connection, etc?

Hello All,

Just wondering if anyone else has contacted on sent an email to Nokia customer service.

This week I've received 2 follow up calls after requesting my call to be escalated and also requesting a supervisor.
Just a few minutes ago I was requested to send a screen capture of the "more info" and "about" of my 1020.

The "specialist" on the phone told me that the only official released phone for the US market listed on Nokia system is the ATT variant.
I told him unless Microsoft is not authorized to sell Nokia, or selling grey market items on the store, someone at Nokia forgot to add this one to the list.

Again my case has been escalated to a different department, and they promised a call back on Monday, as they will forward the screen captures to whatever department I'm being sent to.

Can I suggest the users waiting for an update on US to please open a case on Nokia website?
Maybe if we owners decide to seek a response from them, we will get it.
There is one question they have no answer for, and that's what keeps my ticket open:
Why is this phone not even listed in the update schedule?
Only ATT variant is listed, mine is unlocked...

Hopefully someone else from this forum will contact Nokia.
And somehow this ticket will reach correct department or whoever needs to look into this.

Same as me, however I've not received an update and I'm getting nothing even if I check manually.
I'm still running black.
Do you have this under extra+info?
Manufacturer Name: RM-877_nam_usa_957
Mobile Operator:
000-US

Thanks.

I tried to connect with them on twitter and they asked all the details you said. Waiting to hear back from them since 2 days. Someone told that they are going to check it with 'proper department' a get back to me via mail/call.

Somewhat off topic, but I flashed the Rogers ROM (059T1V9) to my 1020 that I'm using on T-Mobile, and I was able to get internet sharing working following this guide http://forums.windowscentral.com/no...mms-now-working-t-920-w-usa-t-mobile-sim.html

A slight variation: When you install access point, it may not show the current sim. Restart phone, swap sims, etc... until access point shows data from the foreign SIM. Once it does, change your date and uninstall access point before restarting the phone. Once access point is uninstalled, turn off your phone, change your SIM, and internet sharing should work.

Something good.. now NCS shows the files for it. Though it still shows the old files, but hopefully it should get update soon .... fingers crossed !!

That's really good news, thanks for sharing.
When the update was done for Nokia Recovery Tool (ver 1.50) I quickly installed just to verified that our phone was updated on serves, but sadly it said ... no package to download... or something like that.
Now I check again and we have something to download.
Which means they're actually moving forward with this!

When the update finished it showed a message stating that my phone was ready for 8.1,
Prompted to wait for download or I could download automatically or do it manually.
I think I'm now really downloading the Cyan update...
I'll post again once it completes.
