Why would they make the 830 faster than the 930? And the 801 is basically an overclocked 800 with a few other changes. They even share the model number. And consumers do not learn quickly. They just fall for the bigger number.

No you got it wrong; the 805 is the overclocked 800! 801 is design for battery efficiency! The upcoming 810 is 64 bit and it rumor to be 2X the speed of the 800!

Considering the 630 has a 4.5" display and the 730 is rumored to be 4.7", I highly doubt the 830 will be anything smaller than 4.7". Anything smaller would be a little ridiculous IMO for an "affordable high end phone" as this is rumored to be. I too am hoping for at least 5", but I'm thinking 4.7" is more likely. Either way, don't expect it to be smaller than that.
Amen to that. Though in the past Nokia made the mistake of releasing a much smaller 620, but rectified it with 625. I hope they have learnt the lesson that most users want bigger screens. only if they go beyond 5" will people crib about it being too large. With today's phones and the content available, I do find 4.5" to be inadequate.

The 801 is just the 8974AB or AC, clocked at 2.36 or 2.46 GHz. The 800 is clocked at 2.26 GHz. The GPU is also upgraded, and it has eMMC 5.0 support. The Snapdragon 805 is clocked at 2.7 GHz, uses faster Krait 450 cores, and the new adreno 420 gpu. The 810 is actually a new design, but Qualcomm needed the 805 so people would not complain they were moving too slowly. Then when that was delayed, they decided to rebrand some snapdragon 800 models as snapdragon 801.

And I originally thought the 830 would have a snapdragon 600, but unless Microsoft adds support in update 2, and it comes with update 2 before update 1 has been officially released, it will use an 800, 801, or 400. I predict it will use the 800, and be microsofts version of the 930

Alrighty all of you spatial acuity folks, who wants to start some early comparative dimensions on the screen (based on these photos)? It certainly looks to be at least 4.7" just based on the height of the device.

From the leaked photos, I doubt its a 4.5" screen. Probably 4.7" or 5". Other specs on guessing it'll have is a 1080p display and 1 GB RAM.

I definitely wanna get this 830 when it comes out so I have a question for you guys. I'd like to keep my 822 as a backup. So how would that work? Will it be as simple as just switching SIM cards from one phone to the other? Or what else would I need to do? I've always donated my old phones as soon as I get a new one, so need some advice. Obviously am on Verizon, how does that affect me?

There are two ways it is worse. It has a 720p screen and a 13 MP camera with one flash. There are also two ways it is better, it has a bigger battery, and it is thinner.

I have been comparing photos of the 830 vs 920 and 930.

From the different angle pics I'm gonna say its more likely 4.7 - 5"
Its dimensions if they are correctly given in the WPC article suggest its gonna be 4.7" at least.

I can't wait for this phone.
Upgrade time is in December for me and this thing will hopefully be released by then.
My 820 has served me well and will be a great back up phone once this 830 is in my hands.

The dimensions given in wpcentral article is almost the same as Lumia 930 which means that specific phone was at least sporting 5" screen.

Though I've a feeling that 4.5-4.7" rumors maybe true about its variants coming to US carriers while the one leaked was maybe International version with 5" screen.

Speaking of backup phones, can you answer my earlier post regarding the subject?

It all depends on whether the 830 sports a nano or micro sim.
If its micro then its just swap the sim back into the 820.
If its nano then I will have to get a prepaid micro sim for the 820 if I brick/lose the 830

Yes! If the global release is 5" then I don't see myself getting a 930 anymore.

I'll hand over my 820 to my sister once 830 is available here. Converted most of my siblings from Android to WP from hand me downs. Haha

Thanks. So what about the carriers? Any different on Verizon for me?

Yeah I wish my dumbass brother would consider WP.
He had a S3 now hes upgraded to a Nexus 5.
Whe he found out about my WP he tried telling me some nonsense about having to pay to use Office on my phone.
Hes always been a monkey with tech hence hes an android fool :)

I slammed him with the fact that my 820 was 4G capable whilst he only just joined the 4G world with his Nexus 5 (2 years late the dumbass)
