Bluetooth and making calls

When I use a Bluetooth headset to make and receive calls. The volume is terrible. It's always low even at max volume. I have tried it on 8 and 8.1 and its the same. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is obvious to you, but here's a couple things to not overlook. Does your BT headset have it's own volume control? Are you turning both that and the phone's call volume up? Also note that call volume is different from alarm and media volume, so you have to be in a call to adjust it.
