Phone upgrade this month with t-mobile and I'm really hoping they announce if it will be carried by them. If not then back to Android and picking up the Z3 when it comes out this month.

I've tried the IP5s, S5, N5 and the LG G3 twice and every time I've gone back to my trusty 925. I have tried the 1320 and the 1520, but both were to big for everyday use. Being in the US and loving T-Mobile the upgraded 7-8 series might be my only option for WP, good camera and expandable storage. I'm not a power user so the lesser processor isn't and issue. The ability to have a 5" screen, great camera and expandable storage is huge at an affordable price. I will be giving the 830 a go if I get the chance.

i'm really on the fence between this and the 1320, 1320 has a lot of tradeoffs but i like big batt and sheer size. On the 830 the cam looks promising, cpu is "2nd gen win phone" which will help when WP9 and later comes(who's to guarantee that MS will keep supporting "1GWP" with WP9....
so i'll wait for reviews and broad street availability(on newegg)
Now if only nokia would release an updated 1320 with 830 internals....

This is a tough call for me. My wife has an Icon and I've been playing with it quite a bit. The Icon I will be able to get for free in a couple of months when my contract expires. Decisions, decisions....

Here the 830 will cost ₹26,000 on launch (approx $430). The 1520 is available for ₹35,000 now (around $588). I think it's worth to spend a bit extra and go for the 1520 as it's a lot more future proof.

If I can give it a try and it seems solid, I might just ditch my 1520 for it. My 1520 experience has been somewhat buggy overall (I've had this weird thing where it detects phantom touches when I DON'T have developer preview installed... it's like the optimized firmware makes it go insane), and my old Lumia 822 is still alive and kicking. That 822 is probably my favorite phone I've ever had, and I certainly wouldn't mind having that experience again. Plus, it would be nice to take out my phone without a bazillion questions about how big it is. I don't mind the huge screen most times, but it's occasionally a bit awkward (e.g. shorts weather).

The only thing I might miss is the passive voice Cortana stuff and the battery life, so it's all gonna wait until I can actually play with it. I'd really jump in if I could get an unlocked version, just because an international travel phone would be nice... if I could actually take the time to travel internationally.

I might give it a try. It's a little bigger than I want but I'll check one out at the Microsoft store. I'm not a fan of the ever enlarging phone trend. I was hoping it would be the same size as my 822.

Adding to my confusion, the announcement came out today that the Lumia 735 is indeed headed to Verizon. I hope that doesn't mean then that the 830, or its variant, isn't coming to Verizon! I like the Icon but was really hoping to get my hands on the 830.

I literally scour Twitter and search engines for news on the 830 several times a day. Not sure why I'm so enamored with this device aside from aesthetics, but I am. Wish there was actual news to report.

I'm waiting for 830 too. I just realized that 830 starting to appear on a local price comparison web. So far, there is just 6 shops listed, with the lowest price starting at 356Eur. Not bad I would say?

Unfortunately, it seems the phone will not be available before the end of September. Some shops state its availability in 3 weeks. Just one shop says it will be on stock from 4.10.2014. So few more weeks to wait. Maybe I will grab 1520 till then? ;) I'm still on the edge...830 or 1520?

I have been using a 1520 since May and I'm planning on switching to an 830. However, I'll try the 830 out for a few weeks before I decide for sure. If I like it as much as I expect to, then I'll sell my 1520 and keep the 830.

I'm curious, what's you reason to consider switch from 1520 to 830? Is it the size of 1520? I had no chance to see it live yet, but it looks huge, even for my relative big hands. But the prospect of 4k video wit possibility to save 8mp stills sounds pretty tempting ;)
