No X to close apps when I press and hold the back arrow

Just got a lumia 1020 on contract, Ive set it up today and theres no X to close apps when I press and hold the back arrow, any ideas on a fix for this

If you mean Lumia 1020, what version of software / firmware are you on ?
You may need to update the device ...
depending on where you are = WinPhone 8.0 / 8.1, Lumia Black / Cyan

If it says Lumia 1010, you wuz robbed

That's weird, can you swipe the apps you want to close downward?

In order, checking after each operation :

- perform a soft reset, then check

- go to SETTINGS >> EXTRAS & INFO ...
what version of Lumia (Black / Cyan) is shown ?

- Check SETTINGS >> PHONE UPDATE to see if there's an update available

- Last Resort - If NO luck, go to SETTINGS >> ABOUT >> RESET YOUR PHONE (this'll wipe all data) which will reset to factory. You can then update your device, properly.
I might do this anyway w a new device

Goes without saying, you must have an app OPEN, to see it with an X (upper right corner). This should be easy to fix w a virgin phone.

Another question : where are you (US, UK, EU, etc) / what carrier ?

Cyan for the 1020 is available for many carriers and countries. Which carrier do you have, and in which country do you live?

Omg and your on black !!! You should automatically get to Chan by now as I am in UK with a pay as you go giffgaff sim (owned by o2) do a phone update and it should come through

Ive just done an update and its rebooting as I type this

Hopefully it is the Cyan update, if not how do I go about getting the Cyan update?

It'll probably be CYAN - if it's NOT, you're gonna have to wait, until released for your phone. (CYAN has a pre-update, download ... so you may get 2 updates !)

Make sure you reboot after the phone reboots itself, or asks you to reboot, just because it works, before taking all your apps ... (some recommend a hard reset !)

Yeah it did 2 updates, the 2nd one took a good few minutes
