Ever since the 830 was announced, I told myself that this is the phone I'm gonna buy. But now looking at the 730 closely, I realize a lot of the specs are the same. From what I see, the 830 has better design, better camera (but significantly?), bigger screen, glance. But 730 has a 5MP FFC! My biggest dilemma is, should I get the "affordable flagship" now, or get a cheaper device for now and wait for a better flagship till next year?

P.S. I'm currently on Android and desperately waiting to shift to WP

In Germany, BASE offers the 930 for 299? at the moment...

If you can afford the start price of the 830 you should maybe look around for a 930 or 1520 for almost the same price.

There are a few people on this forum (including myself) that are actually selling their 1520 in favor of the 830. It's just too big, and the swipe/tap/scroll bug is annoying. The 930 doesn't work on LTE in the U.S., and even if it did it doesn't have Glance. I understand the 930 and 1520 have better specs, but the 830 is more balanced overall plus it's the most aesthetically pleasing, though the 930 and 1520 are two of the most beautiful Lumias ever as well.

Actually I would love to buy a Lumia 830 but as Ludger already quoted, the prices in Germany are a total mess:

Lumia 930: 450€ on amazon, but with luck you can get it for 299€
Lumia 830: Preorderable for 399€
Lumia 735: Preorderable for 300€
Lumia 730: Preorderable for 280€
Lumia 630: 130€ on amazon
Lumia 530: 90€ on amazon

Lumia 925: 250€ on amazon
Lumia 1020: 350€ on amazon
Lumia 1520: 450€ on amazon, lowest elsewhere 380€

If you look at that, the pricing is a complete nonsense, especially when you can get a new LG G2 for 309€ (full hd, good cam, etc) from amazon.

But back to your initial question: 120€ difference in price for a better cam & a better housing seems a bit to much for me.
Looking at the prices here makes me think, that both devices will be soon on sale for at least 100€ less and maybe than and after good reviews for the 830 I might ending up buying it anyway.

See 930 was good and I actually saved up the money for it. But the lack of a SD card slot, glance and the bulky design are pushing me away from it. And not to mention, the uncertainty of it releasing in India anytime soon.

1520 seems wonderful but I've gone to a Nokia store to try it. Just too big!! I still think 4 inches is the sweet spot, so!

I agree both contract and off contract offers for most Lumia phones are way too expensive. You got to slash prices to be competitive against the onslaught of Android and Apple

930 for under 30K sounds a bit too good to believe. I may as well do for it if its true but in that case the 830 might be priced around 22k which makes it even more enticing!!
