I really want to get a 1520.3. I used to think phones that big were stupid, but I have completely turned the corner and am fascinated with having that huge screen, along with all the updates and what not. However the screen sensitivity thing scares me. If it were any other issue I might be able to live with it, but I had a similar issue on a phone before and it pissed me off beyond belief. So my idea is this: I want to buy one from B&H and if it has the issue, withing the return period, I want to return it and buy an HTC One m8. I'd much rather have a Lumia, but I just don't think I could live with this specific issue. I know people have exchanged them multiple times with varying results but I don't have the time nor the inclination to be setting up multiple phones at this time. Plus I don't have a backup phone since I'm switching to T-Mobile in this scenario. So I'd have to buy another phone just to have service while I wait for replacements in the mail. Then again Microsoft hasn't officially stated that the One will get Windows 10, so there's a whole other issue I have to think about.

My question to you all is how have your experiences been dealing with this and B&H. I know they allow you to return within 30 days and there is a holiday extension thing going on right now. However, has anyone had trouble returning one since this issue is intermittent? It may very well be that they get the phone back and the problem isn't happening at that time. Do they check or do they just have enough volume that they just say whatever and give you a refund? I know I could call them and ask but I would rather hear from actual people who have done this who don't work for them.

I really appreciate anyone taking the time to reply and share their experiences. Thanks!

I bought my 1520 from B&H a little over a month ago. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I luckily have not needed to invoke B&H's return policy.

I have had nothing resembling the touch/swipe issue on my 1520. The cause of this is thought to be the phone twisting and bending in your pocket. It is a large phone, just like the controversy with the flexing of the iPhone 6+, you just need to be a little more careful with the phone, and I think you'll have no trouble with your 1520.

Best of luck, and welcome to the message board.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been doing a lot of reading here for a while and I am finally about to pull the trigger. I just got a little leery since it seems to be so prevalent. I normally take these things with a grain of salt as one should, since "only people with the problem are going to actually say something." But I just saw so much of it I got a bit worried. I think I am going to order it and just hope for the best.

Check around the forum a bit more... I know I've seen members post that they have returned to B&H without issue.

My impression of them (I've used them twice in the last year) is that they are a solid company. They (mostly) get pretty good reviews online: review b&H photo - Bing

This was the first phone that I had bought from B&H, but I had bought some pro audio gear from them before. They are a solid company.

I bought my first 1520 from them a few months ago, had the scroll/tap bug big time and after a week I returned it to them. No issues at all. Bought another one maybe 2 months ago and its still present but not as bad. My own personal experience with my current one is if I keep the screen clean the bug occurs less often and with a tempered glass screen protector its easier to keep it clean so its not a big problem for me. As far as returning a faulty device I think you'll be fine.

My first one started acting up at 5 weeks. I made videos of it and did a chat with B&H support. I showed them the videos and made sure they agreed to a return. I needed that assurance because to avoid delays I wanted to buy a new one and return the bad one rather than exchange it. They agreed and my new one was shipped that day I believe. That was months ago. The second phone has been perfect.

The only thing that made me nervous was the return window. They gave me a shipping label. I dropped it off at UPS the next day. The tracking showed the ON-TIME delivery would be 12 days which is the maximum the RMA code is good for. I called to tell them they need to extend that for customers if they are going to use the cheapest, slowest shipping known to man.

OT but FWIW, my bad one was not due to any bending although the symptoms were the same as people had from bending. Mine went from 5 weeks of perfection to almost unusable while sitting on a table. I ran a benchmark program and the problem started during it. Since even the Nokia recovery tool could fix it, it appears to be hardware. Since the phone had not even been picked up between perfection and massive problems I have to say the most likely cause was something in that particular phone not being up to the heat generated during the benchmark.
