Lumia 530 and 630 came without headphones, so I tried my old WH-102 (of my asha)

But those don't work on my lumia 630 or 530, I have no ther headphones to try, so... what di you think, is that normal? Headphones work perfectly on asha 201
What kind headphones should I buy then?

I've a 630, those headphones didn't worked to me.. So I tried a S5's headphones and worked well.. Almost any headphone "Android compatible" worked.. Except some Sony's that didn't worked well.. Try before you buy them.. I bought some Nokia Headphones for lumias but received a cheaper quality "Nokia hands free" that sounds awful.. I think they are some cheappy Chinese copy or something.. But try before you buy and that should help you.. Now I have a Bluetooth sony's they're great by the way

I got headphones with my Nokia Lumia 520 and gave them to my dad who at the time was using my Nokia 6303i classic phone while his Samsung Galaxy s4 was being repaired and when he connected them they didn't work. So after a while I pushed them into the jack slowly and the phone picked them up and worked perfectly. You see sometimes if you connect them too fast the phone doesn't "find" or "register" them on the phone. Whereas if you connect them slowly the phone will pick them up and then you can use them as normal.

This do not happen with lumia 630 or 530, if you only connect them halfway (not 'till the end) they work, but work bad, sound is terrible (yes, more than the "normal" terrible sound of WH-102), but that's because they are obviously not well connected, now when you push then all the way down (slow or fast) the phone use the external speaker, do not detect headsets

I try with some big sony headphones (over the ear, with diadem, which I hate) and they worked well, strangely, the connector of those have only two lines, like this:

And the WH-102 have three, like this:

Ah I see your point. You see some headphones are phone specific don't ask me why they do it maybe its so you don't buy out of brand accessories ie headphones. I have a pair of pink in ear Sony headphones and they cost as little as $40 (25) and the sound is,superb. All you need to do is match the jack on your original headphones and get a match in store. You can often see the jack in the pack.

Just matching the number of pins wouldnt do the job.
if you are keen on researching and getting the right one with the mic then read this
    http://forums.windowscentral.com/win...ahj-apple.html
otherwise go for a normal 3.5mm (no mic) earphone.

If its just for hands free you want them your better off using a Bluetooth headset but if its just music get a pair of generic headphones with a generic jack.

As theawkr92 has already pointed, there are two main standards and that Apple crap for TRRS plugs (Tip/Ring/Ring/Sleeve) (3 black lines).

OMTP is way better than AHJ because, for some reason, they are compatible with TRS plugs (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) (2 black lines). So they work on any PC.

There are now two different standards. Nokia new ear sets become now like apple, if you tried Apple ear set on your lumia it will work.
you can make this one work if you have some technical experience or let some do it for you.

you just need to switch the mic and the ground wires , this is the only difference between the two standards.

Open the mic Box, and by soldering iron remove the mic and ground wires from the board and switch them.
In this ear set particularly you will need to remove the the ground of the speakers from the board and make short wire connected from the ground of the mic to the ground of speakers.

Try this only if you have some technical experience in soldering.

I Know it is too much for an ear set but I have some spare time so I did it !
