Why is my Lumia 820 showing a blank screen(glance screen is working)?

Lumia 820 showing blank screen(glance screen is working). Please help!!

My lumia 820's screen went blank suddenly while watching some random video on youtube through browser. I've restarted and soft rebooted it several times but no response. But the phone is working and responding normally even the glance screen! Is this a problem relating to the display hardware of the phone or the software..
Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance..

So the phone is turned on, but you can't see the start screen? just the glance?

yes, and actually a very little flicker of light in the screen that shows my lock-screen for about half a second on pressing the power button
I am thinking of using the software recovery tool just before going to a repair shop (as my warranty period is finished).

I think this might be down to hardware instead of software, but wth give the recovery tool a shot If the phone is on, it should work instead of telling you "your phone is not supported" which im currently dealing with :/

yeah the phone has been identfied by the tool. At first it did not, therefore i used the "my phone does not startup or respond" option

OMG this is EXACTLY what was happening to me with my 720 earlier today! I fixed this by turning off double tap to wake.

I skipped the software reset part as I did not want to loose my data in vain. So I took it to a mobile repair shop and the guy told me that the display has to be replaced! Also it will cost a quarter of what I paid to buy this phone 2 years back!.. So I guess its the end of my lumia 820 :-(

Well he said no matter what he did, nothing happened... I m guessing that your phone worked after soft resetting it...
