Can i change the sim card of my nokia lumia 530?

I have a nokia Lumia 530 and I would like to buy a new phone. I want to give my 530 to a friend. They have a virgin sim card and my current one is ee. I purchase a monthly pay as u go pack for my ee sim card. Will I be able to put the virgin sim card in and nothing happens to my phone apart from the contacts and texts changing? Also the virgin sim card wont be on a contract or a pack or anything. And I will be buying a new talkmobile sim card for my new phone on a contract.

You'll need to unlock the phone - ee luck their phones so that other Sims won't be recognised.

I believe there is a small charge involved.

After that just factory reset and you're good to go - your friend logs in with their account and can enter their contracts and whatever.

Unfortunately it won't be as simple as dropping in a new sim - unless you bought the phone from carphonewarehouse: Those are all unlocked.
