If I use a three conductor AUX cable, why doesn't my 1020 have sound on both speakers?

If I use a three conductor AUX cable, my 1020 does not have sound on both speakers.

I just purchased a Lumia 1020, and when I use 4 conductor headphones I have great stereo sound. If I plug in a "normal" three conductor aux cable into my phone that is plugged into my stereo or my car radio I will only get sound out of one channel. Do I need a special 4 conductor cable to get this to work right, or is there something wrong with my phone? Everything else works great and I do love the phone, I just am wondering if this is normal behavior or is there something wrong?

Thanks
Bryan

No you do not need to have a special plug.
If you plug in the "3 band plug" and you do not have stereo than try to lift the plug a little but.
So the plug should not be inserted totally in the 3.5 mm but "stick" out a mm or so.

I can only get stereo sound through headphones with a four conductor connection. I tried your suggestion but that didn't work. Any other ideas or suggestions?
