I'm looking to get this phone to replace my 1520 (yes, really) because I want a dual-SIM phone, I like phablets, and I think this will be more suitable to my uses (better battery life, etc.). But there are a lot of variants and I'm trying to figure out which is the one I want. Does anyone have a list of the variants yet? I want the LTE dual-SIM variant, as it has better frequency support than any other Windows phone. Don't take my word for it, Microsoft web site lists:

Band 1, 17, 2, 20, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 28, 12, 38, and 40. Dang! And some of those are key, such as Band 12 for roaming on T-Mobile's network (I'm in Canada, but travel in the U.S. from time to time).

The regular LTE version has far less frequency support than the dual-SIM version, it seems.

I read an article that suggests the 640 XL has the following variants:

RM-1062
RM-1063
RM-1064
RM-1065
RM-1066
RM-1067

It lists the RM-1063 as the AT&T variant. Any idea about the others?

Don't forget that Microsoft has promised that a new high end phone week come out around the same time as Windows 10. It might be worth it to wait.

I appreciate the reminder, but I think I might get better battery life out of a slightly less high-end phone. Also, as someone who has broken my Lumia 1520 *twice*, I see some value in cheaper repair/replacement. :)

Finally, high-end phones are almost never dual-SIM. Dual-SIM is largely popular in places where entry-level phones are the most common/popular. So the high-end Windows Phone is unlikely to be dual-SIM. I'd be pleased to be surprised, but again battery life may suffer due to more horsepower. Finally, most flagship devices are not phablets. The Lumia 1520 was unusual for both being a phablet and a flagship. Perhaps there's a bit of a trend that way, as the best iPhone is also a phablet (well, sort of... 5.5" barely counts as a phablet for me, and the iPhone 6 Plus is also not as high-end as many competing devices). But the majority of flagships are like the Galaxy S5, the iPhone 6, the HTC One, etc., they're in the 4.7" to 5" range. I want a phablet for sure.

So perhaps the upcoming Windows 10 flagship will be a 5.7-6" phablet that's incredibly cheap to repair/replace, is dual-SIM, and has battery life to spare. But I think the odds are against it. :)
