I had to get rid of my 930 as the phone was a disaster, Had to have everything useful turned of to make it through the day. I really want to go back to WP though, would the 830 be a good option?
If you are a heavy user of phone, you need Lumia 1320 or 1520 for battery. Light to medium usage is ok for me on my Lumia 930. Get 18h average before I need to charge it. Includes Age of Empires every 2h.
As a rule, I use very limited number of apps on my 920/925 because I've always found that enabling any notifications with them totally kill battery life. Live tiles are for the large part overrated imho.
As someone who sold his 830 to get to the 930 I have now, battery life was significantly better on my 830. To be completely fair though, I don't have a problem making it through the day on my 930.
The thinner profile, LTE on AT&T USA and expandable storage are also very big things I miss. I loved that 830 and I'd def. recommend it.
Location and "hey Cortana" enabled on my 930 plus 3 live tiles. About 20 hours battery life. The 930 will never win any battery longevity contest, but it is fine for me as a moderate user.
I have used both and the 830 is definitely better in the battery department. That said I never had a problem making I through the day with my 930. On my usage pattern I would finish the day on my 930 with between 40-50% left. On my 830 it is 55% to 65% on the same pattern. Not scientific but probably representative of the relative longevity.
I had the 830 for a week and the battery was noticeably better than the 920 that preceded it and the 1020 that followed it. Just got my 930 today so we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Battery has really only been an issue for me occasionally on weekends when I'm out and about all day. Otherwise I make good use of several wireless charging pads at home and work to stay topped off most of the time.
Something's going on with the battery in my ATT 830 over the last few weeks. Dramatically reduced batter performance. Will be down to 65% within just a few hours in the morning after taking it off overnight charge at 100%. I thought it was the result if changing to Accuweather as my lock screen, but went back to Weather and still the same. I constantly check what apps are running in the background and there are no changes from before. Don't know why its draining so quickly now.
