be careful -- if they got that phone in Europe it wont work here... they have different supported bands...

if you receive it AND it works... please post that information on here - in this moment, I will immediately order one.

Not necessarily true. I checked the bands on a 640 for sale in Norway and it's the exact same bands that are available on the phone here in the US. Yes, the bands used in Norway are not the same as here in the US, but this phone supports enough different bands that it does not seem to matter where you are.

We had a couple of weeks ago a thread on here, which pointed out, that it is NOT be compatible with ATT ...

AT&T | What You Need to Know About Your Network

"We currently use frequencies in the 1900 MHz and 850 MHz ranges, although we have licenses to operate in other ranges."

What are AT&T's 4G LTE bands?

"LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently."

"The 1700/2100Mhz (AWS-4 or AWS Band 4) requires both the 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz frequencies to be used at the same time. The 1700Mhz is used for uplink while the 2100Mhz is used for downlink."

So from where I sit, the 640 supports all of those perfectly. I'll know soon enough once my phone arrives and I use an adapter to put the nano sim from my AT&T 1520 into this new 640. I 99% bought the 640 to use on Digicel though which uses 900 MHz and 1800 MHz so if for some total fluke it won't work on AT&T, I couldn't care less really.

Please post links to the the thread you are speaking of out of curiosity....

Thanks!

Thanks! I read thru that and unless I'm mistaken, the 640 supports all of those frequencies so I still don't understand why it wouldn't work.

The 640 variant I bought was an RM-1113 (I have no clue which demographic this variant is) which specifically supports:

2G bandsGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bandsHSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bandsLTE 1 (2100), 17 (700), 2 (1900), 20 (800), 3 (1800),
4 (1700/2100), 5 (850), 7 (2,600), 8 (900), 28 (700),
12 (700)

So I still think I'm covered unless I'm drunk haha!

I have the same one from expansys. You should be fine I'm using it on Cricket. Works well. Tried a speed test and got 10 mb dload. Popped in a pay as you go tmobile sim and got 21 mb dload.

I can't believe the battery on this thing. Up to 3 days now on a single charge. I don't use my phone much but thats still damn impressive.

Hmmm? Cricket's proxy servers limit maximum LTE speeds to 8mbps download and 4mbps download on HSPA+. They state that in the terms of service. If you got 10 mbps it was probably a short-lived thing.

Apparently the T-Mobile Lumia 640 has been spotted on sale at some Wal Marts for around $99.95! Apparently that version would be usable on any T-Mobile MVNO as well as T-Mobile prepaid. Not sure if it also has wifi calling capability built in.

Glad to see this phone start to hit the US. This is likely my upgrade for my Lumia 635, looking forward to ATT to get this phone.

The 640 LTE dual sim works just fine as a 4G phone (but pops up as LTE on rare occasion) on AT&T and T-mobile today. (since its already unlocked) The AT&T manager I talked to said they expect fully functional LTE on all 640s before July. The 640 LTE dual sim works with AT&T band 7 out of the box, but, only at 4G in certain areas.

The 640 LTE on T-mobile is reportedly able to be flashed to the international (india?) firmware, but, I don't know this for certain as I just use mine as is right now.

That would mean faster updates correct?

FedEx delivers the phone tomorrow and my sim adapter just arrived today. I will be testing it with an AT&T and Digicel sim card. Will report back.

EDIT: Keep in mind too that I'm PST and will need time to unbox and play with it/test before reporting the results.

UPDATE: My eBay 640 arrived. It's specifically an RM-1113_1002 - 059X1B3 - APAC HK

I have flashed this ROM on it to replace the Hong Kong ROM:

RM-1075 - 059X0X8 - GLOBAL SWAP

It's the exact same OS build as the HK ROM that shipped with it, 02166.00000.15103.05001.

This is the India ROM from best I can tell, defaults to "English (India)". I did a hard reset after flashing, changed the language to mine (Caribbean English, could have used English UK I guess), but when it came to selecting my country, it wasn't even listed (Anguilla), WTF Microsoft! So I chose the next closest (St Kitts & Nevis) even though Anguillians bloody hate St Kitts & Nevis (Grrrrrr MS). Anyway lol. For time zone I'm UTC, -4 Atlantic time.

I popped in my Digicel SIM card and right away I got some text messages, also I made an inbound test call from another phone that worked. I'm not going to do a data speed test because I'm roaming.

Next I'm going to use a nano-micro SIM adapter to insert my AT&T SIM and test. That one I will do speed and other tests and report back in just a few hours.....

AT&T: Looking good, I popped in my AT&T SIM, texts, calls, and data work great. I made sure 4G was the speed setting. I'm getting a good 20 down and 2 up using the speed test app from MS Research. The SpeedTest.net app says 13 down and 2 up, and the DSLreports app says 18 down and 3 up, and it auto detected 4G.

For reference, immediately after I put the SIM back in my AT&T 1520 and did the same tests:

9 down and 8 up using the speed test app from MS Research. The SpeedTest.net app says 4 down and 4 up, and the DSLreports app says 4 down and 3 up, and it auto detected 4G.

I know I have TERRIBLE speed at my house even though I have full bars. I'll try across town tomorrow and post another comparison.

Anyone know how to enter the RF debug menu on these phones? I want to be sure I'm LTE on the 640, it only shows full bars, doesn't say the precise connection type like my AT&T 1520 says LTE.

I just ordered the same phone yesterday. Gonna use it with Virgin mobile Canada.
I'm coming from Android and this will be my first windows phone. Would you say RM-1075 - 059X0X8 is the best to flash on it?
Also, do you know of a good guide for using NaviFirm with it? I'm reading up to get acquainted but tutorials seem to vary.
Cheers!

@92GTA: Dial ##3282# to enter field test mode and check the LTE section. If it's connected on LTE then you'll see the details there.
