    Hello,

i recently purcahsed an 830 and now i have both 830 and 735.

However i noticed (except the obvious screen resolution difference) that 830 is much faster than 735.
i thought that they were both of the same power, right?

Did anyone else see this? I rarely get teh loading... message, and everything is snappier.

    Thanks

Don't tell that to some members here that think the 640 will perform "equal to or better" than the 830

Does the different screen have anything to do with it?

Shame the fastness and snappiness doesn't extend to Glance performance...my L720 runs rings round it 😊

Its just a shame that the screen looks pale and washed out next to the 735. I bought both when they came out. I still have the 735 but the 830 has gone to a new owner now. Didn't really notice the difference in performance but just preferred the 735s screen and in-hand feel. I have bought and tried all the Lumias but only keep the ones that 'do it' for me. I like them all but love the 1520, 1020, 920, 820, 735, 720 and the 620. I use them all in rotation because I am a Lumia looney :)

There's no resolution difference, they are both 720p, the 730 looks more pixelly becuse of the pentile display.

The only reasons the 730 can be slower than the 830 is if

    1. The memory/memory bus is slower on the 730/735
    2. The on-board eMMC is slower
    3. The CPU is throttled back to improve battery life or due to thermal reasons.

Having said that, I have the 830 and my wife has the 730, I don't see any difference in performance.

So why is the 830 losing or the same in benchmarks.... Compared to 730

If processor tests then likely memory speed as suggested.

Or different SD400 variants... Does anyone actually know they are really 100% the same...

aren't they both the MSM8926 quad core snapdragon 400? I really just think its just firmware but it could be the fact that they are using faster memory too. That could be another reason why it's so expensive.

Do we actually know that that are both that exact model? Rumor websites etc. say that but unless Microsoft/Nokia show that somewhere or a teardown confirms that, for all we know they may be different.

As people have said, even if the same, clock speeds and memory speed can still make a difference. Or they may be the same. Without both here with same OS build etc. can we say they are any different.

Heck, it could even just be a fluke between two devices and imperfect manufacturing or something.

If someone takes apart both phones they should first look at the processor. I think the 830 is using a snapdragon 600 processor. Or there is some kind of secret behind this.

I also wonder if maybe the Lumia 830 has Dual Channel RAM while the 735 has single channel

That's not possible as the 830 is losing to 730 in bechmarks.

    "Seems faster....." Haha
The only thing that should settle this is to do clean installs on both phones and then set it up exactly the same (apps, accounts, configurations, SD cards apps usage/installations)...
    then run benchmarks...

Why does anyone have more than one car? He also has great taste in phones. I should start my own classic Lumia collection.

The 830 is in fact NOT using the SD 600, its using the exact same chipset the 730 uses.
