International 830 on AT&T Visual Voice mail gone

Got an international 830 from Amazon to use on AT&T. Visual voicemail worked first few days then stopped. AT&T tech support says VVM will not work on non AT&T phones. Anyone else have this problem.... is there a fix?

VVM should work on non-AT&T phones. Try restarting your phone and configure voicemail again from phone settings
