My sister's 830 has been playing up, but it's locked to EE, and I don't have a spare EE SIM and I'm not sure if the problems are SIM or phone related. I've flashed it from the EE variant to the unbranded GB Country Variant, but the SIM lock remains. I thought that the SIM lock was removed when flashing with a CV? Is there a way to unlock it easily without paying the network?

Sim lock status is not related to ROM also cannot be unlocked by flashing another ROM. What you can do are 1-check your carrier's unlock policy and try to convince them to do 2-buy an unlock code online insert an invalid sim card type the code and unlock the device.

The problem is that it's a second-hand handset, and EE are a pain! I think I'll just go into the shop and see what they can do, I might be able to borrow a SIM card for 5 minutes.

About ?20 pounds off ebay for Ee which Is rather expensive considering Vodafone unlock code on ebay is about 5pounds and three network don't even charge for the unlock code.
