Beat This- 300 Miles Roundtrip for a 640

I'm not sure I should be admitting I drove 300 miles roundtrip to buy a 640, but there it is.

My local Walmart wasn't getting them, my T-Mobile order was back ordered, and I'm leaving the country for a couple months so I decided to drive to the next nearest Walmart that had them in stock.

Ironically the $30 I saved getting it at Walmart comes close to covering the gas.

So far it's a great phone and worth the drive.

Anyone able to beat 300 miles?

I remember back in Black Friday 2010, I drove over a hundred miles away just to get an Xbox 360 w/Kinect since it was the only WalMart to have one in stock. Metropolitan stores sell out quicker than stores out in the country.

When you think of the enthusiasm for these devices in this forum, it's amazing that Windows Phone Devices are not more popular than they are. Of course I need to come back to the reality that this forum is not going to be a representation of the population in general lol

Didn't beat 300 miles but I went to my local Walmart and they had 1 lumia 640 in stock and they had put in on the hanger for the lumia 435 or whatever the lower end one on T-Mobile was so they had to honor the price on the hanger! Got my 640 today for $49!

I have a lumia 1520 and I was looking for a second phone that wasn't so big... I can't believe the quality of the 640 for the price! Even for $129 this device is one of the best values at that price point. The screen looks great too...

Congratulations- at $100 it's a steal.

I also shouldn't admit I got the 640 and gave my wife the HTC 8X. The HTC is a great phone, but since she doesn't use it much the really short battery life won't matter.

You win! Glad that you got your hands on one. My trip was 42 miles roundtrip (which might not sound like much, but it's further than I usually go).

It makes me glad to read posts that some of us who were waiting forever here in the States finally got our hands on it, even though a good number of us had to take journeys from home.

Driving 3 miles in traffic here is like a 300 mile trip tho...

Here's the kicker- I just got the shipping notification for the back ordered 640 I tried to cancel at T-Mobile! Looks like we'll both have matching phones and use the 8X as a backup.

Oh well, I had a nice drive through the Texas Hill Country and got some other errands done in the big city...
