Important Tip! Recharging your Lumia...

I have been reminded of an important tip about recharging your Lumia device using a mains charger. Firstly, I will comment that unless you have no choice but to charge from a USB port, always opt for a mains supply charge (faster and better for Lithium Batteries).

My tip is, when charging your Lumia, ALWAYS fully plug in your miniUSB into your phone BEFORE plugging your charger into the mains supply. And simularly, ALWAYS unplug/switch off your mains supply BEFORE then unplugging your miniUSB from your phone (when switching mains off, best to also wait a few extra seconds in case charger needs to 'decharge' too).

This is because there is a fair risk of slightly 'sparking' your USB port when inserting a MAINS powered USB plug. There is a fair risk this will cause internal damage to your Lumia device!

Someone I know has recently ruined his Lumia by doing this the wrong way.

It's a good safety precaution, but having plugged things in the wrong way since forever and not ruining one device (knocking on wood), I'll probably continue doing it the lazy way.

As someone who uses 'music technology' too, I have seen the odd live USB port 'spark' and affect flash memory in synths and effects modules. Simple precautionary measures often reward well, I find.
