Lumia 730 not getting detected on Ubuntu

Hi All Fellow Windows Phone Users/Most of all Lumia Users,

I recently installed Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) on my personal laptop and I have a Nokia Lumia 730 already. When I tried to plug in my lumia device to my laptop, it didn't get detected. I ended up not able to access my phone memory and SD card on laptop to transfer my pictures and music to and fro which I could do easily while I was using windows 7. Can anybody tell me how I can resolve this or do I have to go back to Windows 7 which I don't want to right now?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

More specifically, I want to know whether Lumia devices get detected on Ubuntu. Does it?

Does the Windows Phone Desktop app work in Wine? I doubt that would be helpful but might be....

Re: Lumia 730 not getting detected on Ubuntu

Okay News News! I am totally new to Ubuntu.

So I pick the fact that Wine is a tool for ubuntu where we can install windows apps. So I will give it a try once I am back to home today evening..

Thanks for the suggestion. It will be a great relief if Wine rescues.

Thabks mase!

Re: Lumia 730 not getting detected on Ubuntu

Wine cannot detect things which the Linux kernel cannot detect.

Try to get it running under Linux. That's the only feasible way.

I thought so. I will give it a try once more, by moving Ubuntu from 14.04 to 15.04. May be the new version has the upgrades needed for detecting Lumia 730.
