Is 930 available from Carriers?`

I am investigate the possibility of own a windows phone. I just visited 8 carrier sites in Canada and the US. None of them carried the 930. In fact the beefiest WP i found was an 830 from Telus, the rest were 400/500/600 series phones. I know manufacturers sometimes release direct sales models only (see BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition), and I am knew to the WP scene so just wondering if I missed something.

Also, my carrier will let me try an 830 for two weeks and then return it no strings attached. I am considering doing this to see what I think of the WP experience, in prep for the upcoming 940/950. Would the 830 give me a reasonable impression? Or is a dog that may taint my view of WP?

I don't live in US or Canada, but I remember seeing threads here from time to time, where others say that L930 is not available in/or US/Canada.
There however is Lumia Icon (929), which has the same specs as L930. And as far as I can remember, I think it's available only trough one carrier. Not sure which one though.
L830 is a great phone. It should give you an overall impression on how the Windows Phone OS operates. But, if you're looking for flagship device, I'd recommend waiting for the L940.

Thanks for the info. Just found and 830 and Icon on Kijiji here, both for $200 CAD, so I'll maybe try and nab one of them as a trial to see if I want to want for the 940/950. From what you have said at the same price the Icon is a much better deal than the 830 at that price.
