Windows 10 pc not recognizing my lumia640 XL after connecting with USB but it is charging. plz Help

phone folder doesnt show up in the Computer after connecting to pc with USB.

Restart both, change cable, plug phone in different port and try once again...

I had this problem after plugging into a usb port hub. When plugging it directly into PC it solved it. on another occasion it took forever to get the connection because the microSDCard was faulty. Try to connect your phone without an SDCard and see if you get a connection then. That may not solve your problem but eliminate at least one possible culprit.

I get that error with a loose or otherwise faulty USB cable. And just out of curiosity, did you install the USB drivers for your phone before you hooked it up to your computer or after? And, do you use the same USB port all the time? On my work PC one of my USB ports seems married to the 640 XL I have, while the other won't recognize it at all. (Android phones I have owned work just fine; Motorola, Huawei)

I found that if you install the drivers first you get a better experience.
