Today on the event, we saw only Lumia 950, 950 XL and 550. It's rumored the release date of an new low price smartphone like the 650 or 750?

Next year, makes more sense to me. It wouldn't make sense for Microsoft to announce three phones, have them come out in the next 2 months and then surprise(!), a random midrange.

Yeah, for sure the design language of Lumia smartphones of 2014 and 2015 have become stale and uninspiring, Lumia series need complete overhaul of design after these *4* and *5* series and new naming schemes too.

Which would have two year old Snapdragon 410 Quad Core CPU at 1.2 Ghz, not new Snapdragon 412 Quad Core CPU at 1.4 Ghz. Why always old processors in Lumias at Low and Mid range Smartphones...

    1. They work, and work well - will people notice? Not at lower price points necessarily.
    2. They're cheaper, saves money.
    3. Since they were around longer, they can be worked with sooner.

Lower end phones are about "good enough" rather than putting in the highest numbers possible.

Lumia 650 has a very different design compared to 950s. Slim, metal frame around the edges, pc back cover that comes of but not the whole thing (as with 950s, just the central part of it. Snapdragon 210 and 1GB RAM, 720p screen. Looks nice imo.

We'll see what, if any, will come. Specwise SD210 and 8MP camera would be more 555 than 650. Makes no sense to me.
I would expect something in line with 3rd gen Moto G both in specs and price.

I own a Motorola G lte and a 640. The 640 is my main phone right now but I am taking a look at the Motorola G ultra. It's a jump up over both the phones I have now and still at a reasonable price. If Microsoft doesn't come out with a good mid range I will probably get the ultra as my main phone and the 640 will be the secondary phone.

Quite a gap between the 950 and the 640 and nothing from Microsoft to fill it.

I think their strategy to release one "value" phone - 550 -, one midrange/business oriented and one high end - 950/XL - is fine, I just don't think the the naming convention makes sense if they call the middle model 650. Regardless of the specs, if they decided on this 3 tier arrangement and called the base 550 and the top 950, they should call the middle one 750.

The Business/Enterprise offering is the only segment not covered yet. I'm hoping for something in the 2G Ram 16Gig storage range. That would fill that segment nicely,

Or possibly the Lumia 650 should have Snapdragon 415 at 1.4 GHz 2gbRam/16 gb Rom, being on par with at least next year Moto G 4th generation. People care about specifications, and why not, because that are the things that largely determine the performance of the phone, particularly SOC (processor), that is similar to the brain for humans.
Micromax Canvas Nitro 4G E455 in India has Snapdragon 415 1.4 GHz octa-core processor having Android phone for price of around 165-170 $.
And Snapdragon 415 is not bigger not only in number than Snapdragon 410, but also has improved GPU over Snapdragon 410.

And Snapdragon 415 is not bigger not only in number than Snapdragon 410, but also has improved GPU over Snapdragon 410, better manufacturing process (28 nm HPm process, same process as used for Snapdragon 800 series processors till Snapdragon 805).
I cant argue with RAM and memory, but does the benefits of a 410 or 415 have enough performance improvements to warrant the price hike? Better manufacturing process and GPU sure, but to what extent?

The manufacturing process used to manufacture Snapdragon 618, 620 processors is the same process used for previous Snapdragon 800 series ( Snapdragon 800, 801, 805, the 28 nm HPm process) that would make the processors for speedy performance that was not attainable in old Snapdragon 615, 616 and 617 processors due to their manufacturing upon 28 nm LP node process, giving the old processors much heating upon much and intensive usages. This makes SOCs 618 and 620 perfect for use in Lumia 750 and 850, which will be on par SOCs compared to 2016 Android phones.
And sorry for wrong information due to misinformation taken by myself, the Snapdragon 415 is made on same 28 nm LP node as Snapdragon 400, 410, 412.
GPUs are LPDDR3 based ( Single channel 667 Mhz for Adreno 405 in Snapdragon 415; and Adreno 510, dual channel 933 Mhz for Snapdragon 618, 620) which improves the graphics and display processes over their predecessors (Snapdragon 410, 615).
