Text messages not downloading?

I don't have the 950 or W10 yet but sometimes it takes a few days for the text messages to come back. Go into Settings and look for Accounts, email+accounts. Then hold down on your primary MS account email and click Sync. You might have to do it several times.

However, I recently updated my 830 to Denim update 2 and somehow lost a month or two of texts. I thought they were backed up before the update or maybe since I did a hard reset after the update, the messages got lost. Sucks.

12+ hours later and my txt's are still syncing. It happens depending on the amount of txts you have

On my 1020 I have messages from 5/20/14 until 9am today, when I switched my phone. So it's not restoring any of my messages that were on the 1020. Text backup was enabled on my 1020. I chose not restore from a backup on the initial setup. I don't think that should be an issue, but maybe will try resetting and doing a restore from the 1020 backup if I don't start seeing messages by tonight.

takes a long time.... 22 hours in now, my txts are synced up to July 20th of this year. as of last night, it was around late June of this year. 4-5 hours after I started a restore, it was still in early 2014 txts.

It seems to be a background task running at a bare minimum. give it more time

Messaging > Settings > Sync Message From "Anytime" set?

Although I see something fishy in messages on 640XL on 10586 insider as it downloaded 12 MB messages !! I know I had saved just about 15 messages in my text history.

I set it to sync messages from anytime, but it wasn't moving. I did a wipe reset to the phone to and this time chose to restore my 1020 backup. This time more messages appeared initially, but it was still very slow and sporadic as to what got restored. I've done restores in the past on WP 8 and I remember it could take awhile but not this long. I got impatient and decided to research other ways. I found the contacts+messages app and used that. Although it took some time to figure out how to make it work, I was able to pull all my sms and mms off my 1020 and restore to my 950.

I've had mixed results with txt restores on my lumia 920 and 830 and the 950 seem about the same...
normally, my 920 and 830 took 2-3 days to get all my txts. 1 time my 830 restored all my txts overnight. and to update my status... I thought is was on txts from july of this year.... I was wrong. july of last year! it was on july 12 this morning, and now everything as of the end of july is synced. this is REALLY slow, and seems faster when you are not playing on your phone... which is hard right now!

I wound up deleting the manual restore since it didn't restore threads properly. Not sure what happened there. I'm going to try first downloading just the last month first and then try move it to year if successful. Probably just need to be patient and let it do its thing.

Restoring texts from the cloud doesn't seem to work for me, so I am just sticking with the manual restore using contacts-messages app.

Just letting you know, starting on day 4 with my 950 and txt's are still restoring. July+ august of last year had thousands of txt's to and from me, and it's going real slow, but still advancing

I'm in the same boat...I did a restore on my 950 from an 830 on Friday. For some reason, I'm missing 9 months worth of texts. I went to the Microsoft store yesterday and they suggested I do a reset of my 950. I did and have the same results...

Same, used restore point of nov 20, 2015. Only have text from january. resynced my 930, reset the 950 and still stuck on jan. text messages.

Again, not sure why, but txt restoring is SLOW. Been at it since Thursday and it's almost to September of last year. So, while txt's are coming back, it's just taking next to forever.i kind of wished I used the contacts and messages backup app, bit txt's are coming back. It just requires patience.

MIne synced on january on satuday and that has not changed as of right now.

Mine started July 2014 on Friday night. Tas of 20 minutes ago, it's at the end of July 2014. Wonder if MS was just a bit under prepared foe the amount of txt retiring that would be happening since Wednesday?

Same issue. It pulled up everything up to 9/2013 then stopped. Only new ones I see are from the last 3 days. Aggravating.
