Why can't I shut off narrator on a 640?

Cannot shut off narrator on a 640

Tried pressing volume up and power button at the same time no results

Volume Up and Power Button is to turn Narrator ON.

Perhaps someone will confirm the hardware key combination to turn it off.

In the mean-time, go into the Narrator Settings, select the on/off toggle by tapping it. Now that it is selected, you must double-tap it to turn it off.
