If I wasn't lucky enough to get my free dock ordered on Oct 25th and delivered on the 27th I know what I would be doing and if enough did it, MS might do things differently next time.
I would order a dock from the regular page and return it in 30 days regardless of whether I got the "free" one. If their plan was to have docks to sell to 950 owners (or to XL owners who can't wait) while customers they owe a dock to go without, it will take some of them out of circulation. Plus MS ends up with a bunch of returned/used docks that someone else will be able to pick up later for less since they aren't new any more.
But they're not actually different versions... same dock, same packaging, same sku, and I bet they are even shipping from the same place... just a different order page which is a way for them to play games and throttle the "free" docks (that are not actually "free" because the dock is actually just included in the price of the 950xl for a limited time... we still paid for it. If it was really "free," we wouldn't have had to purchase a phone).
I've been thinking about doing this, actually, but from my local store so I can get it now.
And yes, I realize they're the exact same thing. MS is screwing us.
Yep, I'm going to do this too... buy the dock and return it before 30 days and if I still don't receive the included "free" dock that I paid for by purchasing the phone, within the 30 days, then I may return the phone too!
Just bought my dock. Will have it for Christmas time and new years, then return it. :)
Anyone else getting the "wrong operating system error" when trying to complete the offer. This is beginning to feel like a two-bit scam.
I got that once. Shut down the app and opened it again and it was back to normal.
Just bought mine too, the last one here at the Scottsdale store lol. But the manager did say that if MS doesn't get the included one within the 30 day return period, he'll find a way to return it and comp me one.

I contacted MS store online chat and they said to contact them by phone and they will provide the code needed. Unfortunately the phone reps don't know how this is possible. They say it can only be claimed via the app. I explained that the app can't be downloaded. After getting transferred to the MS windows department I gave up! If anyone has more success then please post how you managed it. :wink:
Daniel, did you happen to get a comment? I am guessing if you did it wasn't good and reason why haven't heard more.

Yes, I got sorted! Spoke to UK sales chat. They posted a store link for the app Lumia offers. I then had to email the chat discussion. Opened the link through the email on my phone and it went to the app. Downloaded, applied for and bought for £0! ☺
Good result. I have the same issue - got 950XL yesterday and it froze on first boot, had to hard reset so no app.

When I ordered mine off of the offer, it said 4 to 6 weeks, but I actually got it the next week, I am guessing that is a stock delivery statement they make for all offers from the app. Mine was ordered on Thanksgiving day in the US.
Just had a UPS email saying a delivery has just been set up for tomorrow!! Can only think this is my UK dock - ordered Sat morning..........sweet!

Maybe we could move to London? LOL! I'm still pretty ticked off that we can't get the dock deal.
Nobody has said we won't be able to, just that we can't right now. The promotion's terms and conditions says that it will run through Jan 31, and must be redeemed by Feb 29, 2016 (leap year), so it's possible they'll add more to the supply before then. If not, it's always said "While Supplies Last", so they're covered. They would be jerks for only offering it for five days, but they would be covered.
True--and since the app was messed up for so long, maybe there is another glitch somewhere relative to the supply line for the offer.
Well I've got my 950XL and no Lumia Offer app is showing anywhere on it. Put in a call to MS and they've referred me to a link to initiate a chat with support. It's currently closed so will have to try tomorrow.

Bought mine outright yesterday. Updated the offers app and opened it, nothing. Says to keep checking for upcoming offers. So on top of high prices, Australia misses the goodies as well. Unless you went with Optus and scored the free Xbox.

It still says out of stock yet you can outright buy one. This is false advertisement. I have the email that states to claim your free dock.

ok... took me over a week but I got my dock order in.....you need to get hold of someone at Microsoft Store customer Service. It took me some time but I finally made headway on Dec 1st and yes I was part of the first pre-order batch. The CS representative was from Romania (we spent quite a while speaking). She had me take a few screen shots. First of the App error we were getting and then the Out of Stock message.....she confirmed my emails with an email of her own giving me the details of our call. I had not heard anything back from her in over a week so I started emailing Microsoft again as well as several phone calls. Finally, the original CS rep emails me her apologies and a code to order the Dock through Microsoft store! The code I entered showed a $99 discount and order placed!
It took a while but I got it done!!

Just got off with a chat rep who tried to tell me there weren't any display docks in stock for the online store, and they were just having a technical problem with the regular store updating correctly. I called him on his BS, and he got a little snippy. Told me to just keep checking and they would eventually be back in stock. Didn't have a time frame, and told me "No." when I asked if it would be possible to get a different code that would work with the regular store.

I agree with you 100% I am feeling the same way I have my frost white 6p sitting on my desk every day and I want to put my sim back in but trying to support microsoft, I like how folks like you and the many others that speak up like this get made out to be bad guys for not understanding or waiting for ever for a company to get off its butts. The very small market share of mobile that they own you would think there would be no issues its barely 1% at this point that is a sad number and to not be able to support the folks that are buying the products is nuts and those that say we should be more patient thats nuts, I am not sure what you paid but I paid 700 plus for this phone and convinced 2 others to get it and it has been excuse whether its apps, software, or getting hardware that is promised.

I'm okay with that, at least I have an order in. I thought it was ridiculous that you couldn't go on back order from day one. Same goes with all of their products.

PS When I say "Ordered" I meant through the Free Dock Offer which came with the phone (Purchased direct from Microsoft).
The MS Store has not ceased to amaze with their stupidity. Last night when I was ordering I ordered 2 under 2 different accounts. One for myself and one for my wife. On the second one, i forgot to enter the promotion code. There is no way to cancel the order online so I called after I replaced the order with the code in place. When I called, the girl was trying to insist that I wouldn't be charged for either order even though I said, only one got zeroed out. She was trying to talk me out of cancelling.
I understand they planned to do back-orders from day one BUT Microsoft took away the OneDrive space they were going to use for the database.
Got mine ordered last night as well after Musicman's notice that it was available again in the US store; now it shows as backordered under my orders.
I got my Display Dock ordered this morning. I added the link to the dock as an additional home page on my browser and noticed this morning that it was in stock and available for order.
Mine also shows as backordered in my order history. But at least it's there! That means it has to be fulfilled, right?
That's what I'm hoping, at least we have our names on one now for when the online store has them back truly in stock they will at least get shipped out. Hopefully, anyway!
My order history is still showing "order in process" but even if it changes at least I know I'll eventually get it and for now, I have the one I bought from the store here. Which I'm considering keeping now... nothing wrong with having two!

I was in the same situation. But I was able to cancel it online through live chat. At first, the rep referred me to call customer service but I insisted to do it online as I didn't have my phone with me. I'm happy that I met a nice rep.
I was able to order mine as the 'free offer' last night (US site) around 11p PST. I was updating my phone and just figured I'd give it a check. Gave me 'ships in 4-6 weeks' time frame. Still showing as available on the US site now, but with 8-12 weeks shipping time frame. Can't wait to get my mitts on it!

I think the 8 to 12 weeks is a stock response when ordering it through the offer. I got the same thing when I ordered mine, and I got it the next week. I am not saying they will ship them that fast, hopefully you will get it a lot sooner than that 8 to 12 week notification.
I had the same problems with some of the posters here....then was able to get the code from the email couple days ago..and finally was able to place the order this morning.
Now my order status is saying backordered.
