Does custom ringtone work on Lumia 640 + Windows 10 Mobile?

Hello -

I recently got myself a L640 as a backup phone and also to see how far it has advanced since WP7.5 (had a Samsung 2010-2012). One thing I am unable to figure it is how custom ringtones work.

I followed the direction to put a few downloaded ringtones in mp3 format (64 - 128kbps / 300-500kB / 17 - 28secs length) in to "This Device / ringtones" folder but don't see them in the list of ringtones.

I created a "ringtones" directory on the microSD card as well and copied the same ringtones there but no luck. I started trying with base 10586, then to 10586.29 and now 10586.36.

Is this feature broken or I am doing it wrong? Thanks.

Plug your phone into PC, copy desired sound to Phone storage Ringtones folder. Open Settings > Personalization > Sounds, click on your Ringtone menu which is set to "Lumia Default" and go to the top of the list. Your sound will be there, ready to be used as custom ringtone. It works on all builds you mentioned, works on 10586.36, I've tested it right now.

You can't move ringtones from your SD card. They must be copied from your PC directly into the ringtone folder in phone storage as Demian Mioc mentioned above.
