Windows Central Question

spyware for lumia 640

I have a 15 year old daughter that got a windows lumia 640 this past Christmas. Lately it never is far from her reach and her behavior seems secretive every time she is using it. Is there any type of spyware that can be put on a windows phone to track your child doings?

I see there is a lot for android and iOS... but not seeing anything for windows.

Thanks in advance

Because there isn't.. However you could create a "child account" for her. This could help somewhat. Read through these links:

Ultimately I would also suggest just asking. She is living under your roof after all

Re: spyware for lumia 640

It wasn't long ago that I was 15.

I was a mobile dork starting early, and even non-geeky people her/our age are attached to our phones or whatever mobile device we happen to have.

I was somewhat secretive too, but I wasn't doing anything necessarily illegal or making arrangements to run off into the sunset. Some things were more important kept under wraps to younger me that I wouldn't really care about now.
(like what friend I was talking to, a news article, what flash game I was playing... god forbid, the rents find out about this crush!)

I would not appreciate spyware at all. Best thing is to see the above post (since there is no "spyware") and parent. You hold the cards for the most part. Talk to them, let them have some privacy. But of course, I grew/am growing up in a less sketchy area so use your discretion.
Call the shots since its really your household and game. And depending on how smart they are, use discretion.
They might not respond well, I know I wouldn't, but I'll play ball, if begrudgingly.

Also, you may be able to talk to the service provider and they might help on filtering and other communication related data.

NOTICE: The DAD in me is about to come out, so bear that in mind. I have 2 daughters, and their potential suitors in the future will know up front that I have a gun, shovel, and don't mind doing prison. /NOTICE

It could be nothing. It could be that she's chatting with another girl over which guys at school they think are cute, and it's all harmless, but would be embarrassing to admit. However, if she is sexting, then as a parent you need to know about it and it needs to be stopped.

I have to agree with most of this, but have something to add.

#1, the child account can be set up in such a way that she will need your permission every time she installs an app. This is a good thing, because you can keep her from installing apps that allow self-destructing messages or apps that allow her to "hide" photos, etc. Not that you're accusing her, just explain to her that it helps her to stay accountable and not be tempted by some boy who might want to take unfair advantage to do something she would regret later.

#2, when my daughters are old enough to get a phone of their own, they will be told up front what is expected of them, what they are and are not allowed to use the phone for, what type of behavior is allowed and not allowed, etc. They will also know up front that the parents will have full control over the phone, including looking it over from time to time to make sure rules are being followed, which will only be done in case of suspicious behavior, etc.

#3, they will have to accept the first 2 rules to be allowed to have a phone, period. They will also know that they will receive full control of the phones without parental snooping once they have met 3 requirements: 1) turned 18 years old, 2) moved out, 3) are supporting themselves without our help.

Remember also that with a child account, that child will NOT be able to lock you out of that phone, because you hold the master key so-to-speak. That is very important.

This doesn't have to be done in an overbearing way. It can be done in a very loving way as long as that relationship is built properly over time.

Not cool bro. The more you try to spy on your daughter the more staff she will be hiding from you.
I think he has a right to do what he feels if its his daughter. If he is worried, I agree 100% that he should do what he feels to protect his daughter. I'm in high school, and I understand if my dad worries for me, because I know I would do the same for my future child.

Another thing to keep in mind, it might not have anything to do with boys taking advantage of girls. Anyone, male or female, who is underage and sexting could be a sex offender for life. When it comes to child pornography, laws don't distinguish whether the recipient is an adult or a minor.
