Why can't I open settings or many apps on my Lumia 930 Windows 10?

can't open settings or many apps on lumia 930 windows 10

about two weeks ago my phone did an auto update. I have been running windows insider 10 but guess the update was for the released version of windows 10. settings, Windows Edge and many other apps will not open now. The insider app tells me the phone is preparing for an update. I've tried soft resets, removing many apps that I thought may have a conflict and am lost what to do next. Help
