Does this keep text messages from 8.1? My wife is concerned about losing text history. I played with 10 on my 920 back in the day (reverted to 8.1 after two weeks), but then started my 640 I bought last month on 10 Release Preview, no restore. When it came up, it grabbed my text messages from when my 920 was on 10, but that was it.

Based on that, should there be a step in between 2 and 3 about doing a backup, that way texts get synced to the cloud? Then even after the OOBE, it should restore, right?

I never restore from backups yet my messages always restore. I guess message backup is separate than device backup.

True enough.

On my 640 I did a reset after upgrade and no restore so I had to set everything up manually. On my 1520 I reset, but took a restore. My 640 has been running pretty smooth, my 1520 is waiting for a reset and no restore as I have an otherwise insoluble problem of the Phone App believing it is pinned to Start, but in fact being completely inaccessible there. I have to enter Phone from the All Apps list.

Funny thing is, the 1520 started with no issues and then developed the "missing Phone tile" after the Patch Tuesday update to 10586.242 and it persisted after the 10586.318 push. My 640 has been on Release Ring since before the 1520 got official and has taken more updates without having similar problems.

So I guess the lesson is Upgrade > Reset > NO Restore.

Also seeing the problem that the installation of additional keyboards fails when upgrading from 8.1.

Re: Windows 10 update for AT&T Lumia 640

Anyone else lose the option to turn off vibrations and auto hide the windows softbar at the bottom? Any way to recover it without another hard reset (have done so twice now) because the vibrations are annoying to me.

I remember seeing a post somewhere about this issue but can't seem to locate it. I believe it was options under "touch" but I can't find it anywhere under any of the settings sub directories.

I don't see the autohide but in .318 (the update after the original one), the vibration one is in Settings->Extras->Touch.

So I did the reset and my contacts re-appeared during the reset. No backup required.

Also, even though I had already updated to .318, the desktop looked different after the reset. I think I like it better now.

That is the problem... Touch is not an option. Wondering if anyone knows how to get it back without a hard reset.

So, if a person already had .318 from running on the Insiders program will the updates continue to flow from Microsoft?

Based off MS, all W10M updates will be Microsoft controlled (at least on MS Lumia devices). Carriers are out of the loop. Not sure if this will apply to other manufacturers though.

?rdekes. N?lunk 2016.03.17-?n ?rkezett a 10586.107, majd m?g aznap a 10586.164 build. 2016.04.14-?n a 10586.218, majd 2016.05.11-?n 10586.318 build. Magyar Telekom, Lumia 640 LTE.

Ez a WaaS műk?dik az ?n sz?m?ra.

Keresse meg a 10586.338 vagy nagyobb kedden.

WaaS is carrier and OEM agnostic. 3rd party devices should get the updates straight from Microsoft as well. These are OS and core App updates.

Firmware specific changes (radio, OEM proprietary Apps/Settings/Registry entries) still need carrier and/or OEM approval for OTA.

I am still not able to get the W10 mobile update on my 640 XL. Yes, I have the Update Advisor and have been to the ATT store.

Any suggestions?

That basically means that WM10 hasn't been released for the AT&T Lumia 640 XL officially yet. Since there hasn't been a firmware associated with majority of the 640 XL WM10 releases, at this point it's pretty safe to use the Windows Insider app, enroll in Release Preview ring and just update to 10586.107 and later 10586.338.

Like everything in 10 mobile except battery drains about 15 percent faster....
Will play with it several days then thinking of rollback to 8.1

I did a hard reset yesterday and it has improved the performance overall of my Lumia 640 on .318. I'm still trying to sort out a few things. Thanks to someone for the tip about items that won't update until you manually move them from SD card to phone--that worked! Still having some problems sorting out notifications--the reset saved some personal settings, but cleared out many others.
