It has been confirmed through AT&T forums that windows 10 mobile update has finally begun rolling out to users with Lumia 640XL.

[INFO]To Download the Update all you have to do is first download upgrade advisor from windows phone store (8.1) , open it and follow the on screen commands. At the end you should check the box, to download the update. To get the update instantly before getting notified by the phone , head to the phone update under settings and manually check for updates. You will be prompted to download the update which will be of 500~600 Mb in size.
Do make sure before upgrading that you have 2gb of internal memory and battery percentage above 60% to prevent any kind of error during the update.You will have couple of updates to follow the fist windows 10 update. which will be Anniversary update and Cumulative build which should bring up your OS build to 14393.321. Do remember to check for phone updates after you have upgraded to windows 10 and under settings>about that you have the current production build 14393.321
Anytime that you feel , windows 10 is not right for you or you were comfortable with windows phone 8.1. You could use windows device recovery tool to rollback to windows phone 8.1 anytime. Follow the guide here: http://www.windowscentral.com/roll-back-windows-phone-81-windows-10-preview[/INFO]
