Anybody else constantly get duplicate texts?

This is something I have also been dealing with ever since getting this phone. In some cases I'm getting 3 at a time.

Last night I called around a few TMO stores in my area looking for a case for a friend who recently purchased the IDOL 4S (it was mailed to him), and while they were saying they have no cases I also asked if they carried the phone, and all 4 or so stores I called did not have it in stock. My own IDOL 4S was purchased the first week of the $288 sale, and it was an independent store which had it in stock.

The more out there, the more reason for added support for it...cmon fw updates!

If no fw updates, I'll settle for an Idol 5S with the new camera sensor from the Pixel that seems to be the all the rage now. The Android model making the rumor mill rounds allegedly has it.

It appears that some T-Mobile stores and resellers are putting the Idol 4S back out on the shelves, probably because of the new price point. Regardless of operating system it's a pretty good deal for the specs and being TMUS branded as least you will have Band 12 and VoLTE out of the box without surprises.
