Hey Folks

Has anyone had their 950 lock up on them in the really cold weather. I had it in my coat pocket. It didnt shut down, the screen just wouldnt work and I couldnt get past the lockscreen, however, after about 5 mins of being home.. it was working perfectly, also I havent fitted a screen protector yet.. Would that help?

It is pretty cold here at the moment (NE of England), but i was just wondering if anyone else has had this..

The reason Im asking is I only bought it yesterday so I can return it, or am I worrying too much.

In the manual for Lumia 950 it states that you should "keep the battery between 59°F and 77°F (15°C and 25°C) for optimal performance. Extreme temperatures reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. A device with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily."

I'm going to assume the battery simply got too cold. This is not unknown. I wouldn't panic and return it if things went back to normal. Should you find yourself in extreme cold again and you need your phone you should hold it in your armpit (seriously) underneath your coat, but over the shirt, for a few minutes to warm it up before use.

Thanks for the reply and thanks for looking in the Manual... I will keep my 950, but I have noticed the battery isnt that great anyway and drains pretty quick, so I think ill replace that (from an eBay store based in UK).

Ill remember the armpit heating... Fortunately, I wear Deoderant so no worries on that front Hehe.. At least you didnt say.. down my boxers :)

Yep, the battery may not be at the peak of freshness if you got it BNIB and it hasn't been charged for a couple years. That may also have contributed to the cold weather "freeze."

Hahaha.. definitely not with this battery.. Imagine if it explodes.. :)

It wasnt BNIB at all, I got it from CEX.. it just came with a charger, in a plain box.. although the phone screen, camera lens and flash are perfect, so whoever had it has taken good care of it.. but yeah, I can tell by the battery its been well used... but ill just replace it. I just hope the seller is honest.. and its ok, but I will let the community know if its a good battery, because I know alot of folk on here are trying to get genuine, non fakes :)
