It looks like Microsoft is phasing out the avatar with the Xbox One. When I look at my friends, I see their gamerpics, not their avatars. Besides using the avatar to make a gamerpic, I can't see any use for it. Now they are planning on a Skype update to allow you to use the Kinect camera to take a picture for your profile picture. I don't know if this will also be your gameripic, but I don't see why they wouldn't consolidate it. They don't have any arcade games on the Xbox One, so I can't use my avatar in one of those games like I did on the Xbox 360.

I don't see this as good or bad, but I can definitely see the end of the avatar coming very soon.

Interesting. You might be correct. I was always hoping you could use kinect to capture your head and/or body and convert it to an avatar. That would be sweet since I'm fairly good looking.

With the first Kinect you could take your own picture for your gamerpic - it was only shown to those on your friends list if I remember correctly...

You can still do that. Go into the Avatar program and you'll notice you can make your own high-res gamerpic from your avatar.

That's what I said. In fact, I said that is the ONLY use for the avatar.
