Only details is from a post from some random guy on operationsports which is a large sportsgaming community

HIm sorry, but I cant sit by and watch this any longer.
I love and respect a number of people working on this game and having met the man and hung around him a number of times I have a profound respect for Mr. Montana. Hes just a great person. But I disagree with how theyre dealing with the public and how they plan to continue to do so. You just have no idea how long theyre planning to drag even basic info out.
Im not on the team and Im not under an NDA so Im not under any obligation to keep anything I know a secret. There are some things going on that gamers need to know about now, and the way theyve planned to do these things just isnt reasonable. What Im about to tell you are things they literally only plan to tell you about 3-4 weeks before release and Im sorry, you dont deserve to be strung along like that.
I know you wont believe me, but I can assure you this is accurate, and in time you will see these truths unfold. I feel you need to know so you can prepare as a gamer (save up money, make arrangements and plans, etc).
First and foremost, this game will be for XBOX One and PC only. This is why they havent mentioned platforms. Theyre taking early advantage of the Windows 10 cross-plat tech and the game will be out as part of 10s 3-month launch cycle in the middle of this year.
So now that you know, you can make plans to purchase an XBOX One or Windows 10 if you dont have one of them already.
The game is called Joe Montana NFL Football 16. This is an NFL game. First-party stipulations that the NFL has always left open & the NFLs exclusive relationship with Microsoft allows for Microsoft to have an NFL game. Microsoft Studios is the publisher. Microsoft is deadly serious about gaining ground and winning the console war (doubtful to happen at this point though) and throwing tons of money at incubation and trying to buy new IP that they can turn into big series titles is top priority for them right now. They believe this game can be many times bigger than MLB The Show due to the larger NFL fanbase, and because so many XBOX One owners identify as serious NFL fans.
The game was demoed and it went well. Actually, well is an understatement. People went crazy. NDAs were and still are in place for them. Thats why you havent heard anyone saying anything, but a lot of people are having a very hard time because what they seen was unbelievable and its been impossible to go back to Madden or even take Madden seriously after that. Its like, how you felt when you had an NES and you saw Sega Genesis for the first time. The step up in quality is THAT big.

They put those things up on artforgames in hopes that you would find it, especially the NFL stuff. It took a little longer than initially thought, but you found them eventually, and when they saw you found it they took it all down just as they did when they realized people found their job posting last year. They already had their team in place, the posting was a bone. All of this has been staged well.
Theyre not asking for ideas because its an NFL game and they dont feel there is a lot of room for the type of creativity youd need in an unlicensed game. When they first started out before iMFL they were considering a non-NFL licensed game and were going to approach dealing with the community differently with polls, a message board, etc. but things changed once NFL was confirmed.
2K is involved. Should be obvious from some tweets/re-tweets and comments both Joe Montana and Damon Grow have made. Some tech and manpower was purchased from 2K and is deeply incorporated into this game.
The franchise mode will be able to be managed on mobile devices and its really deep.
The iMFL app was never meant to be released. Its entire production was a prototyping run for its franchise mode and management system with the intent of using it in Joe Montana NFL Football 16. Even the TechCrunch interview was part of the staging. It was brilliant. Everybody bought the staging. So, dont wait for that app, its never coming.
There are a few important modes. One is a story mode and its pretty cool. Think NBA 2K My Player. Thats what youre getting.
-The graphics, animations and AI are all obscenely good and modern. It looks like a game that was built for this new generation, not just a port over from last generation with a ton of sloppy tweaks. The animations are easily the most crisp of any sports game ever made. Comparing the animations to Madden, its going make Madden look like a PS1 game by comparison. This is going to be embarrassing for EA Tiburon, like The Show Vs MLB 2K and NBA 2K vs NBA Live embarrassing.
Expect Joe Montana NFL Football 16 out in Mid-late July.
I apologize to the team making this game and to Mr. Montana, but I feel that with just 4 months until release and a reveal schedule that really just strings everybody along unnecessarily, it was only right to tell people the truth so they can be prepared with enough time to act. Again, Im deeply sorry but I know Im doing the right thing.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. E3 is just around the corner and I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft mentions something about this game - if it does exist - with their recent announcements on focusing on 1st Party games.

Though, I'd still rather have a 1st Party baseball game....

I've read all of the rumor about this. I don't play Madden, but I think this would be a huge deal for MS if true.

This seems so weird and doesn't make sense. What about that was going to be withheld until a month from release, the entire existence of the game? I don't get it.

Also, I agree this could do better than The Show because of the NFL fan base and sales of NFL games vs. MLB ones. However, I'd 100% purchase a first-party baseball game, if it turned out even halfway decent. Another football game? I'm 50-50 on that because while I like football, I got Madden 15 as the first Madden I purchased in 7 years, and I kept it for maybe 2 months. I just got bored. The new PGA Tour would be higher on my list of intrigue than another football title.

I jump into Madden 15 every now and then. I like to occasionally play people online.

One of my friends is a huge fan of football and loves his football games. He's really excited about the potential of Joe Montana Football 16 (also one of his favorite players ever too).

Though, even when I read that 'rumor list' a few months ago I couldn't help but think - that's what people who don't like Madden (and miss the NFL2K series) want to hear. I take it with a grain of salt though. Apparently this game is being developed on the Unreal 4 engine as well.

i play ni a madden online league and most of us are tired of madden, the game sucks and the physics is just a joke. We'd be happy for a new NFL game even if it sucks because at least we know at some point, it will create competition. the 2k series wasn't great at first, but by 2k5, they were breaking through already.

Yeah. There was no reason to not announce it at E3. We have Gamescon in August, but that's a European audience that has no interest in American Football. I mean, it's still possible that MS is working on it, but the likelihood has gone down significantly.

Yup. People still think is MS but I doubt it. They would have been said something by now. Nonetheless just hope it lives up to the hype its created on its own.

Its a bust, announced as a mobile game for ios first, android and then maybe PC if it does well.

the developer played the rumor mongering big time to create interest and a ton of football gaming fans are pissed. Eventually it could come to console, but the success in mobiel has to come so this game is years away from even touching console and even PC for that matter.

They played it to create interest instead of announcing it was mobile from the beginning, they are going to realize quickly that it only hurt the game instead of help.

Well, this was a magnificent troll from every angle.

    It's not a serious release, it's a phone game.
The secondary plan is PC, not consoles.
It's Epic Games publishing it, not Microsoft.

This isn't even on Microsoft, as they aren't the ones making it. So I don't know who to blame, but I don't care because I'd much rather get a baseball game someday.

The developer damon grow is being blamed and everybody is pissed now.

Hard to believe they didn't know this was a mobile game before heading into e3 so instead of just saying that, they lead everyone to believe it coudl be a direct competitor to madden with their subtle comments. It ended up being true, it was just madden mobile they were referring to.

He had other interviews afterwards and it didnt look good for him, they dont even havea business model to monetize the game, this is a game a long time away and likley may never see a release.

What a troll... I figured this was way to good to be true. I mean that mysterious message board post was just fantasy playing up on what fans of NFL 2k wanted to hear. Basically that this apparent game was to trounce madden in every way possible.

I'm with Keith though - I want a full featured baseball game. Please make it happen Microsoft - you've got the High Heat Baseball series... Bring it back!
