According to a rather old and now deleted listing under Daniel McConnell's Linkedin page, a senior manager at AMD. (Found Mosen on Beyond3D) Daniel McConnell worked on a 20nm SOC. Combined with what Microsoft have stated that they gave developers access to small amount of processing power.

This lends credence to that SOC in the xbox s may very well be on 20nm and the overall specs may be not too different from the X1.

Never the less we will need to wait and see.

Or do you think Microsoft decided to do a switcheroo and go with Nvidia instead?

The specs aren't that different from Xbox One and they definitely haven't switched to Nvidia as that could cause serious issues plus why would they?
