Hello everyone, Xbox One X is just around the corner and i've got one pre ordered. My question is, what is people's opinions on best screen and best setup to have to make the most of that 4k goodness. I have a family so wouldn't class myself as a hardcore gamer willing to spends thousands on the best equipment but I'm very competitive and mainly play FPS games so any advantage I can get is a bonus. I am looking at 2 options:

Option 1:
Go for a big 4K 55" TV in living room and sit on couch.

Option 2:
Setup a "man cave" with a nice computer desk and a gaming monitor. I've seen all the youtubers go for this type of setup but wasn't sure if that was because they stream everything and need to be close to a PC etc. If go the gaming monitor route what is best size? I assume there will be an optimal screen size when sitting right in front of it. I've heard curved gaming monitors are good but most are "super wide" 21:9 and I don't beleive Xbox supports this ratio and I would either get black bars or a stretched image.

So whats everyones thoughts? Whats your setup look like? Any recommendations? Im surely not the only one preparing for the Xbox One X.

Man cave. Visio's M-75 is on sale now for $1999.

Here's mine. Thinking about upgrading my D-70, although I'm weighing that against saving up for the Optoma UHD-65 4K projector.

Got a front row of chairs coming, but they're on backorder.

Option 2: I'm on the fence on whether I should go with a 4K monitor (4ms response time), keep what I have now (1080p - 60hz) or upgrade to one without 4k, but strong enough for PC gaming.

I am actually looking for a 4K HDR monitor, not TV... Ideal would be around 32". Seems like I have to wait a bit longer to get what I want.

If LG made one of those OLED TVs on the 30-35" range I would get one.

If you want to go 4k tv, you can't beat the vizio p series. With local dimming, it is the best non-oled set on the market. I am using 1x with my 2017 Vizion P series 75 inch which does have quite a few more local dimming zones than the 55 - but it is GORGEOUS with the 1X (Insects is a showcase). My son has the 55 P series, so I know the picture quality is still amazing.

I'm running a 65" OLED (Sony XBR-65A1E) in my living room and couldn't be happier. I don't have a surround setup in the room yet but I may add Sony's ATMOS enabled sound bar when the price drops a bit more post CES 2018. Using ATMOS for headphones is what I would do most of the time anyway, since I game a lot after the rest of the family is in bed.

My setup... the X1X piped into my Marantz SR5010 4k ready receiver to feed my 7.1 speakers, then feeding the video to a new Optoma UHD60 4k projector throwing an image onto a 93” Firehawk projection screen. Add in Dolby Atmos processing and I am good to go!

Man cave + XB1X + 65" Samsung MU8000 (4k +HDR) from Best Buy BF sale (still on sale). Color me impressed. I'm buying discounted 4k Blu-rays now to really make the most of it. Even the TV sound is impressive but I have the Samsung 850 sound bar waiting in the wings if need be...

My setup right now before building my theatre room is...

Console: Xbox One X
TV: Sony XBR65X850C (4K/HDR)
Receiver: Sony STRDN1080
Speakers: Polk (forgot the model) 5.1.2 setup for Dolby Atmos

Hopefully when my room is finally complete, I’ll upgrade the an OLED display and receiver for a 5.1.4 setup.
