Why isn't my download completing?

windows phone 8.1 developer preview update problem

I installed the developer preview version 8.1 and after that I got an another update so I downloaded it and it prepared to install , when it was ready I clicked the install button and it restarted then an icon of settings came like last update but it hanged there without completing even 1 % , now all the time i try to swith on it just hangs there and i cannot do anything please help

Try plugging to the charger and leave the phone over night.
At certain times the updates will hang and need a long time to finish.
I don't know why this happens.

thank you for answering but when i plug in the charger , the phone doesnt get charged but it gets heated only .

When it hangs can you hold the the volume down with the on button till it restarts?

when i hold down these buttons the hanging screen vanishes but nothing happened and when i left these buttons the phone restarted but same thing happened again .
actually it is not hanging it is just not completing the installation process .

actually when you download second update and installing give atleast 40 min to complete,because it downloaded almost 725MB ,in order to install it will take time,at that time plug charger,leave phone for 40 min.
now flash your hanged lumia with Nokia care suite ,just Google it , its need .net 4.5.1 download offline file to pc,you can reset it
after reset,download dev preview app ,restart update process..you need 750MB wifi data to update to 8.1

Here's a link with a little info about NSU:

Get Nokia Software Recovery tool here: NSU

After installing NSU on your PC the application will probably update.
Plug your phone into the PC after the update then start the recovery.
Your phone will end up back on the last official release just like it was a new.
You'll have to start all over with accounts, apps, etc...
