How To Get 8.1 and Cyan Update A Phone Not On A Carrier?

I have a Nokia 520 in the US that is not on a carrier. I know how to get the developer preview. But once 8.1 goes official, how will I get it and the Cyan firmware updates? Will the dev preview become the official version?

You will receive the update the same way everyone else does. If the device is branded by a carrier, regardless of the carrier you are using, you will have to wait until that carrier approves the device. If the device is a factory unlocked, unbranded device (true "no carrier" device), you will receive the update when Nokia/Microsoft releases it.

This will all be under Settings -> Phone Update.

Note that if you have the developer preview, you may need to revert to WP8 before you can install Cyan / WP8.1.
