Windows phone personal email stuck in sync

I have an HTC 8x NOT running on 8.1 yet. Recently my personal (comcast) email seems to be stuck in a constant sync and is chewing up my data and my battery but it's not syncing any email down. Any thoughts / suggestions?

Try this: go into the email account settings and try the different options in "download new content". You could try unticking email in the 'content to sync', but I don't know if that will break checking manually as well...
