Why am I unable to see received messages in message box?

Unable to see received messages in message box.

I can see new messages in notification banner but when I go into message bank there is nothing there to read. Also when I send messages it does not stay in message feed even tho it is sent??

I've tried turning on and off, soft reset and I have taken out sim card.

Any ideas of what I could try to fix it?
