Why can't I sync my microsoft account on my HTC 8x?

I have had a problem with my password for a while now, and I was finally able to log into my Microsoft account on my phone. When I try to sync the account however, I get the following error:

Not up-to-date

We're having a problem syncing your information. Try again later.

Error code: 8600020A

I have tried turning on and off text/photo/video backup, deleting temporary files, restarting the phone, and changing my Microsoft password. Any ideas? I'm trying to eventually back up my 2 years worth of texts...

Check date and time. It can cause a lot of problems

I tried setting the time manually and automatically, nothing.

And or did you get a e-mail from MS to verify you password./account change?

Yes, I was able to log in. Previously it was telling me my password was incorrect, but I've gotten past that stage.

What happens if you go to SETTINGS than BACK UP than text messages is it then you get the failure?

I can switch the text backups on and off, but nothing happens. How can I get any verification that they're backed up?

I get the failure when I press and hold my Microsoft account under Settings -> Accounts and press "Sync"

If you swich it on than you go to another screen and there you can push backup now.
I ask this because you want so get you text messages. So if tho works you could maybe do a hard reset and not losing your messages.

If you login on a PC with your ms account do you also have a problem or can you see there something what is maybe wrong .

I can log in to my account on my PC with no problem. I don't understand your first sentence, where can I see that the text backups actually exist?

Sorry for apps and settings you can do a back up now. If this works (I doubt it) the message backup also should work.

But I now also out of idea's.

What a piece of **** phone. I've had more problems with this than any other piece of technology I've ever owned.
