Why are some of my icons disappearing on my Surface 2?

surface 2 disappearing icons

I noticed that some of my icons on my surface 2 are disappearing.
i lost the Skype and the scanner icons.
i tried to reinstall Skype via Microsoft store, but it's not working. The store tells me the app is downloaded, but it does not show on the desktop.
Please help!
