Why is does my music sound distorted?

i have had my lumia 510 for a few years now, but the sound when i use headphones sounds really distorted so i music doesnt sound right ever , it sounds okay through the speakers though.

WP7.8 device... as far as I know they have no audio settings so it might be broken headphones connector or something in that area. Most often with 7.8 devices, problems aren't software related.
