Why am I unable to connect to my backup server?

I cannot connect to backup server

I first noticed a problem when my Whatsapp tile greyed out. From what I understand this happens when the app is backing up. I have gone into "backup" and "apps + settings" and tried "back up now." However when I try this I get the message, "The server connection was lost and the backup failed. Please try again later."

I have a good wifi connection, and I can't see why this would be happening. I have tried changing my regional settings as I've heard that might be in. I live in "Qatar," but have always had the regional settings on "UK." Changing these settings has made no difference. I've also had the setting on UK for a long time with no previous problems.

Oddly, it appears my OneDrive is uploading to the cloud as some pictures I took yesterday are on the website. I thought they'd be the same thing as windows backup, but I guess not.

Please can someone help me? I'm exhausted trying to work this out.
