Windows Central Question

Hi,

I do a lot of travelling, so this would be key for me in switching. I haven't found much in comparing the services here in the U.S., so I was hoping you could help me out. I'm curious how well Windows options provide accurate directions, traffic conditions, and thorough points of interest. I'd also love to hear if there are things that it provides that Google doesn't and vice versa. Thanks so much!

WP uses Bing maps but you also get Nokia Map apps.

Nokia provides offline maps which means data isn't required. The drive app is great and fairly accurate (I don't personally think any GPS software is perfect)

To compare it to Google. Yes, GMaps has some features that are lacking on Nokia Maps on WP, like alternate routes and traffic re-routing. However, the Nokia Maps will do the job.

Also to add, Nokia Maps now Here Maps uses Navteq data (Nokia acquired Navteq back in 2007 I believe).

Furthermore you get local scout with the normal maps app (which can also pinned) it is very handy to have if your in a unfamiliar location.

I LOVE my Here Drive + and yes I have compared it side by side with Google Maps. I find the HUD and the voice nav superior. It has never steered me wrong.

You can use speech "directions to xxxxx' , city or an address, and Cortana launches HERE Maps with voice directions.
That's what I like.

There is a voice-assisted gps called GPS Voice Navigation that can use Google Map, Bing Map, and MapQuest Map.
As for HUD, does Here Drive+ have a HUD?

Thanks.
