Why can't I sync my itunes library with the wp desktop app?

Hi, I'm new to windows phone, just switched from android to a lumia 930, and I've always managed my music through itunes, so everything is in there. Today I tried to sync my itunes music through the wp desktop app and when I open it, it says that there was a problem accesing my itunes library, asks me to reopen itunes and then nothing happens, and I can't see any of my music in there... someone that can help me out there?? I'm running windows 8.1 on my pc, if it's of any help
