How can I retrieve a lost audio recording?

I was recording an audio with the windows recorder app for about 60 minutes and my computer suddenly shut down. When I restarted it, I had lost my audio recording. I searched for it in vain. Is there a way I can retrieve this recording?

If the recording wasn't saved prior to your computer shutting down then it's unlikely it's anywhere on your machine.

The recorder app isn't all that intelligent so it's unlikely to have a backup. Most software in this situation will generally act the same. Even if the app allowed for intermittent saving, you'd still be missing something in this circumstance.

It sounds like your computer crashed in this circumstance and in this case nothing gets saved.
