How to do a soft/ hard restart on a Nokia Lumia without using the power button?

My Nokia Lumia 925 has had its power button broken for quite some time, but I've adjusted to this problem and barely notice it anymore. However, when it was in my pocket today, it has done the thing where the sensor has sensed black for too long or something and now the screen is black, but the buttons still light up and the camera button still works. I know I have to do a restart, but you need a power button for that. Is there another way, or will I have to let the battery drain before plugging it in? If I remove the SIM card, would that work?

Get/ write an app that shuts it down, and plug it in to reboot it, I can't think of another way as you can't pull out the battery on the 925. Sorry to hear about your power button. Hope this helps!
